The Big Stone Arts Council is pleased to announce a cultural event to be held, Sunday May 1^st, 2011 at the Ortonville High School Auditorium. This is a free event and every one in the Big Stone Lake community is encouraged to attend.

What: Community Gospel Concert with free admission

Place: Ortonville High School Auditorium, west entrance

Time: 2-4pm Please arrive early to visit with your neighbors. There will be a short intermission, with a reception to follow the end of the concert in the Commons.

Local talent/school choruses/church choirs are encouraged to sign up early to sing 1-2 gospel songs. Choir robes of all colors are welcome. We want all Groups/choirs/choruses/soloists/families/businesses/children/seniors from Big Stone County, Big Stone City, and Milbank areas to sign up and sing. We have a gospel music play list and a lot of gospel sheet music to choose from. Big Stone Arts Council will give each group $100 for their performance. There will also be a $100 prize for Favorite Performance. This is a special way for your group to make some extra cash – up to $200.

Please sign up early, before March 1^st. We want to keep the concert ≤2 hours so we may have to limit it to the first 12 respondents. Everyone will also receive sheet music for the Grand Finale, “Amazing Grace”, a group song that will close this First Annual Gospel party. Host Director Wayne Huselid will lead everybody in the Finale. The free programs will have an insert of “Amazing Grace” so the audience may sing along.

We hope that this is something that the community also feels strongly about and comes out to support this free community-wide cultural event. It is a fundraiser for the Cultural Center and we gladly accept tax-deductible donations to continue to fund activities like this one. With each $5 Donation, Donors will receive one ballot to vote for their Favorite Performance. Generosity and Multiple ballots purchases are encouraged. After the Grand Finale the ballots will be collected and tabulated. The winner(s) will be announced at the reception and receive the Favorite Performance $100 prize from BSAC.
