“Arts and Community”

Working together on sharing the Minnesota Jr. Duck Stamp Contest Exhibition in this area turned out to be a great experience for everyone involved.  Making the contacts to secure the traveling artwork  was Alice Hanley, Big Stone National Wildlife Refuge Manager, once again Julie shared her gallery space and Mike Dory, mayor pro tem, stopped by on opening day to welcome the project to  uptown Ortonville.  The quality and talent among the young artists was evident and appreciated!  Over 800  artists from Minnesota communities created original art for the contest.  Thirty-six  winning contest entries, created by artists ages 6-18,were chosen to travel the state.  Big Stone Arts Council members have been receiving  many positive comments from those who were lucky to view the show and plans are being made to host the 2012 traveling exhibition next spring!
